Amanda Storer

"I have lived in East Texas most of my life! A native of Henderson, I earned my Associate of Applied Science from Kilgore College and my Bachelor of Applied Science from Centenary College of Louisiana. I also earned a Master’s degree in Educational Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in educational technology from The University of Texas at Tyler. I have been a licensed physical therapist assistant since 2007, having worked primarily in outpatient and home health pediatrics. I joined the Tyler Junior College Physical Therapist Assistant program faculty in 2015. I have also been a Group Leader for Autism on the Seas, an organization that provides vacation assistance to families with special needs, since 2021 and have led 18 cruises and a resort stay to various destinations since that time! I love to travel and experience new cultures and meet new people! I am a bit of a Disney nerd and have been to all Disney properties except for Shanghai and Hong Kong. Tokyo DisneySea is my favorite park. Disney's Aulani, in Hawaii, is my favorite resort. I have an annual pass to Walt Disney World and a Disney Vacation Club membership. I can talk Disney all day!"

A fun fact about me

"I was a Cast Member at Walt Disney World in the College Program in 2003! Antarctica is the last continent on my bucket list to visit!"

Why I feel inspired to be a Woman Of Hope

"My life mission is to advocate for others! Many opportunities have come my way that have allowed me to do just that, whether personally or professionally. Being a Woman of Hope will allow me to advocate for exploited children and youth and empower others to be a part of the mission of For the Silent. I am inspired to continue the work of those who have fulfilled this role before me and be a part of such a great organization!"

Community Involvement:

"I have been a member of Tyler Area Ambucs since 2011. The mission of Ambucs (American Business Clubs) is to inspire mobility and independence for individuals with disabilities. Ambucs has been around for over 101 years! I was the chairperson for the Southside Park Project, the first all-inclusive playground in East Texas. This project was a partnership between Tyler Area Ambucs and the City of Tyler and continues to serve our community well! I have served as a mentor through the Mentoring Alliance and continue to support my mentee through her college studies. I have served as a member of the Disability Review Board for the City of Tyler and currently serve on the Disability Rights of Texas Board."
