Melanie Thomas

"I was born and raised in Tyler, Texas. I moved to the Metroplex in 1991 and came back home to "The City of Roses" in 2010. I love spending time with friends and family, especially my daughter, Maddie. I am a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and the Women's Symphony League of Tyler. I enjoy yoga, canoeing, nature walks, reading, movies with popcorn, wine tasting, Bunco, and live music. I was an educator for 22 years and a school counselor for 7. While working at Champions for Children for 4 years, I earned my certification in perinatal mental health. I am currently a LPC, licensed professional counselor, at For the Silent which has been such a blessing in more ways than one. My team and I are committed to working with adolescents and adults to help them become their best selves. Through collaboration, goals are set, and progress is made. I believe, "Together, we can do this thing called life.""

A fun fact about me

"My senior year at Robert E. Lee High School, I was not only nominated, but won the title, "Class Clown", out of a class of 600 plus students!"

Why I feel inspired to be a Woman Of Hope

"Helping others has always been my heart, especially those who feel hopeless. I believe awareness is key to success. Being a Woman of Hope provides an opportunity to do just that! The more people that are aware of sex trafficking and exploitation, the more help we can provide. With promoting fundraising For the Silent, we can provide prevention, intervention, and therapy to those that have been sex trafficked or exploited. I am proud to be a part an organization with the mission to make this possible and to provide hope over fear!"

Community Involvement:

"I love being a part of For the Silent, The Women's Symphony League of Tyler, and attending annual fundraisers throughout our community for different organizations!"
