Melissa Shanhouse

I serve as the Director of Business Development & Financial Advisor at Burrows Capital Advisors. I work with Organizations and People to help them determine best financial strategies and solutions. I graduated from Texas Tech University with double Bachelor of Science Degrees in Human Development & Family Studies and a minor in Substance Abuse Studies. I am the proud parent of two wonderful children. I play the role of a Soccer Mom to my son Jacob, and am a dedicated supporter of the Performing Arts, encouraging my daughter Charlotte in her artistic pursuits. Almost 10 years ago I moved my family Tyler in pursuit of a kind community where we all could strive.

A fun fact about me

I had Perfect Attendance all through Grade school. I did misses more than a few classes in college but was on President and Dean's List most semesters.

Why I feel inspired to be a Woman Of Hope

I aspire to be a Woman of Hope because For The Silent's commitment to empowering vulnerable youth deeply resonates with me, especially as a mother to two children. Through this role, I can amplify my voice to advocate for an organization actively striving for a safer future. Witnessing the resilience of survivors and the dedication of those fighting to end sex trafficking inspires me greatly. Joining this movement for a world free from exploitation is not only an honor but a heartfelt commitment to making a meaningful difference.

Community Involvement:

Beyond my professional endeavors, I'm deeply invested in the Tyler community, actively participating in several local organizations. I currently serve as the Board Chair for Junior Achievement and as Treasurer for People Attempting To Help (PATH). Additionally, I have been nominated as American Heart Association Go Red Woman of Impact in 2022.
